Is Gen Z Ready for Work? Or Is Work Ready for Gen Z?

There’s no shortage of opinions about Gen Z in the workplace. But instead of generations talking about one another, what happens when we actually bring them together to talk to one another?

Recorded live at the Mannington Commercial showroom in Atlanta as part of the Work for What’s Next roadshow, Amanda Schneider brings together students, educators, and business leaders to explore the transition from education to employment and what each side can learn from the other.

Together, they unpack the changing definition of “work ready,” why expectations that seem obvious to one generation may be completely unfamiliar to another, and how AI, communication norms, and new ways of working are changing what it takes to prepare for a career.

In this episode:

  • Why clearer expectations could help close generational gaps

  • What Gen Z needs from educators, employers, and leaders as they enter the workforce

  • Why curiosity, adaptability, resilience, and relationship-building matter

  • How AI is changing what entry-level employees need to learn

  • Why preparing the next generation for work is a shared responsibility
